Postcard from Latvia no. 2

Another great view of Latvia, from the Vidzeme region. Turaida Castle (Thor's garden in Livonian) was constructed in the Brick Gothic style in 1214 under Albert, archibishop of Riga, it was badly damaged by fire in 1776 and now is being reconstructed.

The EUROPA stamp issued on 26 April 2008 in 300,000 copies has letter-writing as its motif. Thank you, Jura!
