Postcard from Brno, Czech Republic

When visiting Brno last week I sent home also a postcard with a snowy view of the Peter and Paul Cathedral (Petrov) built in the 14th to 15th century. The stamp used is taken from a miniature sheet dedicated to the Unesco Biosphere Reservation of the White Carpathians and its orchid meadows (mountain range dividing the Czech and Slovak Republic above Bratislava). The sheet combining offset and engraving consists of 4 stamps and four coupons. The 10 CZK stamp shows the orchid Anacamptis pyramidalis and the butterfly Colias myrmidone and was hand-cancelled at the Brno 1 Post Office in the very centre of the city.
