Cover from Macedonia no. 2

A lovely cover sent on 2 June 2010 from Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, by Ana. The souvenir sheet of 72 denars (1.17 euro) shows cornflower Centaurea grbavacensis and the 1 denar stamp Helichrysum zivojinii, both issued on 10 September 2008 in a series dedicated to Macedonian flowers. And there was a nice surprise in the envelope - a stamp related to my country, issued in 2009, in a series presenting various countries of the EU accompanied by a typical view or a person.

Cover from Macedonia

Back from a week of travelling in east Slovakia and southeast Poland...
From a huge of pile of delivered mail I first pick up this first cover received from Macedonia. It was sent on 6 February 2009 from Skopje and received 11 days later. All the stamps have face value of 11 denars. The larger commemorative stamp issued on 15 December 2007 shows Tose Proeski, a Macedonian pop star and "Elvis Presley of the Balkans", who died in a car crash in Croatia in 2007 at the age of 26.

The two definitives of Skopje and Ohrid are part of a series issued on 4 December 2008 showing major and important Macedonian cities and towns.

Postcard from Macedonia

On 1 December 2008 I received this great postcard from Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. It was sent on 24 November and thus reached me in 7 days. It shows the main sights of this city: the Kale fortress, the Orthodox cathedral, and the stone bridge over the Vardar River.

And the total of 5 stamps! The square stamp was issued on 20 December 1996 in a series dedicated to rural architecture. The four definitives are from 2006. The 3 and 6 denar stamps were issued on 30 August and the 4 and 10 denar stamps on 12 Janury. All of them are part of a 6-piece series showing traditional copperware from the 18th to 19th century.
